Chesapeake.jpg (71688 bytes)The Mighty Chesapeake

Only part of the Chesapeake is in Virginia but I live at the tip of it so I've included it on this pages. I haven't really tried all of them out in detail yet but I have sailed the bay from Hampton to Annapolis (see my April letter). Its HUGE (see map)!

bulletChesapeake Bay Sampler - the most comprehensive site regarding the Bay as an entity
bulletThe Chesapeake Bay Region - a private site but also very good.
bulletThe Eastern Shore - the VA bit of the Delmarva peninsula (Delaware/Maryland/Virginia)
bulletDelmarva Page - information on all three states
bulletThe Chesapeake Bay Program - an environmental protection site
bulletThe Chesapeake and Delaware Bays Nautical News Net - all the information you need on marinas and boating conditions
bulletThe Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel - a big hunk of human engineering that finally connected the Eastern Shore with the rest of Virginia
bulletChesapeake Bay Maritime Museum
bulletI love lighthouses and the Bay has the best of 'em. Check out the Chesapeake Chapter of the American Lighthouse Society and US Lighthouses.
bullet'Chesapeake' by James A. Mitchener - locals may scoff but I found this book a great read. It really brought the Bay alive for me.
