More to follow on the life down south, especially when I finally get around to my May letter. I visited all the southern states over the course of my journey and enjoyed myself immensely.

Just a few facts to whet your appetite:

Southern ladies don't gossip - they just inform!

As I was told by a leading member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club of Natchez, Mississippi.

The plantations did not have slaves,

they had servants!

A pineapple is a sign of hospitality for visitors...

unless you have over-stayed your welcome in which case finding the prickly fruit at the end of your bed means "Enough already".
